Notes from the journey

Development log / 001

The project

The Days you remember.
A new way to return.

The goal is a faithful reconstruction of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days using Kingdom Hearts III as the runtime foundation. Missions, panels, progression and encounters remain at the heart of the experience.

Our intended Days launcher will use the player's owned KH3 installation, with separate Days state and an ordinary KH3 launch option. Base KH3 and Re Mind must remain playable.

Movie cutscenes from the collection are also part of the research roadmap, alongside reuse and adaptation of compatible assets.

  1. 01
    Study the original

Record controlled experiments. Measure behavior before deciding how to reproduce it.

  2. 02
    Build the foundation

Reliable entry, menus, player systems and separate save ownership.

  3. 03
    Finish one complete mission

Connect combat, objectives, rewards and persistence before expanding content.

  4. 04
    Grow, compare, refine

Bring the campaign together and test the full journey from a clean save.

Where we are

Demonstrated

Small but concrete steps

A diagnostic widget displayed inside KH3. Bounded Roxas and test-map experiments. Repeatable original-game menu and movement observations.

Being built

A reliable Days front end

The partial menu and navigation core exist. Full artwork, input ownership, real destinations and save routing still need in-game integration and verification.

Still ahead

The playable journey

No complete Days mission or campaign is ready yet. Panels, combat fidelity, content production and full-game testing remain ahead. No release date is announced.
